Branded3 completes the #Leeds10k – there’s still time to donate!

There’s plenty of hobbling around the office today as our team recovers from running (ok, some of us were walking – fast!) the Leeds 10k at the weekend.

Fifteen members of the Branded3 team gathered bright and early Sunday morning to take part in the event, and we’re very happy to say that all 15 not only completed the entire 10k, but made it round in a fantastic time – well done everyone!

Average Branded3 completion time: 1 hour 2 minutes

B3 Leeds 10k - before the race

Along with 8,000 other race-goers, the Branded3 team met by Leeds City Museum Sunday morning to take part in the mass warm-up before joining the queue to get across the start line.

There were a few nerves amongst the team as the sun blazed down on the crowd, hitting 24 degrees Celsius at 9:30am before the race had even begun. Grabbing plenty of water from the stands before we set off; the nerves soon turned to excitement as we revelled in the exhilarating atmosphere.

B3 Leeds 10k - the crowd

It was a fast start for Branded3 as we sprinted across the start line and began our challenge, running from Vicar Lane through the city centre. The heat soon caught up with a few of us and the speedier members ran ahead, looking out for the first 1k marker!

The race took us up Kirkstall Road where the supporters were out in their hundreds doing their best to keep up morale, whether that was by cheerleading, playing music, or throwing ice cold sponges at us (trust me, absolute bliss!).

Even at the toughest points, the atmosphere never dropped and the reason we were all there was never far from our minds. Leeds-woman Jane Tomlinson raised almost £2million before she died from cancer in 2007, having completed many arduous challenges in order to raise money for local charities whilst battling her terminal disease.

Just one of her legacies; the Leeds 10k has taken place annually for the past six years and raises funds for The Jane Tomlinson Appeal, which has raised millions of pounds for local children’s and cancer charities.

B3 Leeds 10k - the finish line

The feeling when we crossed the finishing line was priceless.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the event on Sunday and thanks to all those who’ve donated. You can still donate to congratulate Branded3 here!

Now, if you don’t mind us, we’ll be spending the rest of this week on our chairs…
