Fancy a meeting in Florida? Check out Branded3’s new meeting room names
When we moved into our brand new office back in July, we went from one meeting room – to a staggering 12. The team were overwhelmed with choice; no more meetings in our greenhouse of a conservatory, no more huddling round a small desk; we had massively upgraded and bagged ourselves 12 huge, grown-up meeting rooms!
We’ve been working on making our new home our own, and putting that special Branded3 touch on every corner; and as such, we didn’t want to just number the meeting rooms – oh no, we had a much better way of personalising them.
So with that in mind, we’ve named our meeting rooms after Google updates; pretty cool eh? Check out the names of our six biggest meeting rooms below:
There was no better name for our biggest meeting room; the ‘Daddy’ of all meeting rooms, if you will. Named after the Big Daddy update which began rolling out in December 2005, this was the update which changed the way Google handled URL canonicalisation and redirects.
Gone are the days when the word ‘Penguin’ conjures up images of cute, chubby waddling birds in our minds (or chocolate biscuits…); ‘Penguin’ now evokes fear for even the most search-savvy webmasters. Rolled out in May of this year, this update aimed to fight webspam and encourage quality links; and it hit a lot of websites unexpectedly. Don’t worry if we invite you to a meeting in our Penguin room though, we’re definitely more cute and chubby than scary.
Hitting our side of the pond in April last year, the Panda update focused on quality content; something we’re pretty darn good at, so it made sense for us to have a Panda room. The only rule is; everyone has to drink Bamboo leaf tea in here, mmm!
Rolled out around February this year, the Venice update sought to integrate local search data and localise organic results; so we now have a Venice room! It’s not quite finished though, we still need to switch the chairs for gondolas.
An old update now; Florida began rolling out in November 2003, and made webmasters sit up and take notice of how future Google updates would affect their sites. Don’t get excited if we invite you to a meeting in Florida though; this ain’t no Disneyland.
The May Day update impacted long-tail traffic, and seemed to hit those sites with large-scale content the most. Get invited to a meeting in here on the right day; and you’ll find a Maypole and plenty of Morris dancing.
