I have to agree with Craig, this rule will improve quality. And if one thing is missing from the broad internet that's definitely quality. I wonder when others will make the same move.

25% is quite significant and that is not good for user experience. Wonder when Google will follow suit.

If Firefox actually does that I will never use the browser again. It's enough that it freezes, then crashes every time I seem to have lots of work unsaved and about to be saved or published. If the company decides to arbitrarily attack the quality of web content by significantly hindering publishers' attempts at conducting market research, I will boycott the browser and all other Mozilla software, and encourage others to do likewise.

Firefox was a necessity five years ago. The same is not true today, and it's time the people running the show over at Mozilla recognized that.

As much as I am (slightly) nervous about having less data to work with, I also think it's a good thing for quality. Rather than trying to create cheap gains on knowns, website owners will be forced to create quality content on unknowns.

Google should provide an option in webmaster tools to allow decorating up our serp listings with analytics-like tags. Would make this a moot point.

I really hope they do not block the keyword data from Firefox as well. Depending on the site, 'not provided' can get to be quite big - and if the bounce rate is high or conversions are low you have no idea why - so cannot improve the site.

I am finding nearer to 20% of traffic is already coming up under the not provided section. Real pain. I think this whole thing, as it progresses, is going to make our jobs a lot harder!
