Google wants you to search for crazy stuff

Google’s search suggestion feature has become familiar to users everywhere since it was rolled out earlier this year. It works by making suggestions based on the overall popularity of various searches related to the word you’re typing in. Sometimes those suggestions get a little crazy, which is why myself and Gary have launched Google Suggest Of The Day, a brand new site offering one bizarre search suggestion each day for your amusement.

Here’s one of my favourites so far:

It does seem bizzare ; some of the suggestions surely can’t be that highely searched for. ‘did r’ is my favourite atm, but not too far behind the Gordon Brown ones

I quite like the second one that comes up when you Google “Roy Keane”.

I found this post amusing and was thinking about something similar the other day. They are directing users to searches they deem better for their search engine usage. Google maintains its demographic of the average joe Web user and by doing a suggest search they can direct users to clients of theirs in the adwordswhoare paying millions, they continue to do this to keep the flow working.

There are some pretty funny and great suggestions that come up though!
