Last weeks Panda update has hit more ecommerce sites

Panda updates in the past have not really seemed to hurt ecommerce sites as much as content sites and affiliate sites. Last week this seems to have changed a bit and more ecommerce & comparison sites are suffering.

Matt Cutts sent a tweet today saying that we can expect Panda to hit 2% more sites in the near future but there are already quite a few sites contacting us about a major loss in traffic last week.

If you have been hit please leave a comment or email us for some help and advice.

Our site seems to have gone up the rankings for all of our keywords last week, but for some reason our page rank has dropped to zero?! Weird. I am hoping its just a faulty plug in, but I am too scared to check with other sources. I don’t see why Google would zero our page rank though…..

I can see the latest updates must be a real pain for certain e-commerce sites. Luckily we don’t have any affected clients, do you guys?

The pagerank drop is probably due to the change explained here: http://www.davidnaylor.co.uk/has-google-disabled-pagerank-no.html

Some of our sites have gone up and down in the past few weeks. There are other factors but it seems like Google is doing some dance at the moment. We have had sites go from position 6 to position 86 and back to 12 over the place of 2 weeks. Has a profound impact on businesses and income. Link maintenance is important as if your links are disappearing due to various reasons you need to ensure you are working on obtaining more quality relevant links.

Not only quality links, but if you are hit by Panda. Also remove the duplicate and low quality content replace it with unique high quality ones.

Lots of ecommerce sites have suffered from Panda, I thinks it´s due duplicate content.

Hi, my ecommerce site was receiving around 50-60 organic search visitors daily, down to 10 to 20 since Nov 5th, which on run up to xmas is disappointing situation. Now when i use the site: search on google only 2 pages show up, where before there were 100`s, I guess google know that similar businesses to mine suffering the same will all have to turn to google adwords to try and push some traffic…win, win for googles pockets i guess…meanwhile I will have to try and rebuild my site and rewrite 100`s of pages of content in the hope that it may recover.
