Lastminute Auction could be great

A new affiliate site called Last Minute Auction shows eBay auctions that are about to end and have a price of less than $1. The idea is good but the implementation leaves something to be desired.

My tips for this site as as follows:

  • Remove the ads from the right hand side until the site gets 5k uniques per day
  • Use some Auction Ads banners for high value items – the commission on $1 auctions is not going to make this site rich
  • Invest in a Web 2.0 logo
  • Add some content – this site needs long tail traffic
  • Add a blog and start linkbaiting
  • Offer RSS feeds of all the data
  • Blog about the best low value auctions and some high value ones with affiliate links

    Hmm… offering RSS with all the data might not be a good idea after all. If you read your feeds twice or three times a day, you’ll see tons of already finished listings. Same about blogging about the best auctions.

    Don’t you think so?

    Brilliant idea for sure. I agree with your suggestions. I’d also consider implementing a choice of prices instead of just $1 dollar.

    Good point about the RSS feeds being out of date, didn’t think of that.Smile

    The blog posts would be more to create content on the site for readers and linkbait purposes rather than to draw peoples attention to the auctions.

    They could blog about success stories of people getting expensive stuff on the cheap.

    It seems like a good site, I’m just wondering what the chances are that I find something worthwhile on there for under $1. At least it cuts down on time you’d spend searching for sub-$1 items.

    Site appears to be down. Cool idea. I like your comment that PPC should be avoided without some traffic. If an idea is worth something, it CAN make money under its own business model.
