Having used ServicingStop in October 2011 and been victim to a catalog of simple errors, I would not recommend them to anyone whatsoever. Their after sales leaves much to be desired. The garage carried out work without my consent and then ServicingStop proceeded to mark up by approx 400% compared with other garages. An absolute disgrace, compounded by the fact that once they have your money they simply do not care. Avoid at all costs (and there is a very high likelihood that it will be COSTly).

Err Like Hello Rob, yes I’m aware they’re not a garage, but I’ve never had to speak to the garage directly, only them, and they’re quite nice. :) And if it does cost a little more to go through someone like them (from previous experience with garages, I’m not sure it does actually…?), then so be it – it saves me the hassle of organising it…..

Err Like Hello Zoe, you are aware servicing stop aren’t a garage, they are an agent, have you maybe considered it’s very possible you’re in the minority?

I now go directly to the garage that servicing stop referred me to over 2 years ago. Cut out these jokers and save money.

I get these updates because I posted on here a while back – I really don’t get all the negativity (and no, I don’t work there)!!?! I wonder if this is the forum for people who had bad experiences!! :) I regurarly write letters to companies when I have bad servcie, but I also make a point of writing good ones when I have good service. Maybe some of you guys have just had the misfortune to have gone to a bad garage on their list…?
I started using Servicing Stop a couple of years ago, and now I always use them…. Like, hello? I totally don’t have the time to faff around calling for quotes and trying out a new garage and taking time off work to drop my car in!
I’ve had so many bad experiences with garages, now I’ve found one that’s good, I’m not going anywhere. They do the job, do it well, and they’re not overly expensive (for me, anyway)! Maybe I’m just lucky, but I’ve only had good service from them, and now my dad uses them too :) Just wanted to say…….

Servicing Stop is a joke! I though £164 for an MOT and interim service was a good deal til I later found out the “interim service” is just an oil change! They also quoted £650 for MOT repairs, including £50 to change a headlamp?! They must think their customers are stupid. I asked why it was so expensive and they attributed it to inflation and VAT. Funny that, because my local garage was able to do the repairs and a re-test for £420.

I also later called back the garage that servicingstop had used and asked them for a private quote for the same work, and it was about £200 cheaper.

I’ve read speculation that they get their own staff to write positive reviews online. That says it all really.

My regularly-serviced Toyota Rav4 was taken to them by ServicingStop. It’s a 1996 model but with only 33K miles and it was SORN for 2 year after doing only 300 miles since its last no problem MOT. I was therefore somewhat surprised to receive a “bad news” call telling me that the car had failed due to a worn tyre, headlight adjustment, hand brake adjustment and… a “leaking brake servo”. The latter was quoted at over £800 with labour and there was a long list of “additional work advised” including timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, all oil & fluid changes adding up to a total of over £1900 EXCLUDING the £250 charged for a full service and MOT!!

I asked for the car to be returned and took it to a reputable local garage who did the MOT, serviced the brakes, changed the type, adjusted the headlamps, topped up or changed fluids/oils depending on condition for £525 all inclusive. Before I had the work done, I did the brake servo test and asked them to also check beforehand and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I don’t know if it’s incompetence or dishonesty but it was a complete waste of time and money. I am now in contact with ServicingStop customer care who are explaining that MOT tests can be “interpreted differently depending on the garage” and “given the age and mileage of the car, manufacturer servicing recommendations, etc” but even there the timing belt/water pump replacement (quoted at over £300+VAT) is given for 60k miles minimum. A previous ServicingStop representative had assured that an error of that magnitude (i.e. failing MOT on a major part that was ok) “would be dealt with very seriously” but they are not falling over each other to get back to me so far… we shall see.

I liked the concept of ServicingStop but their use of 3rd party garages is bound to give mixed results. I did my homework but bottom line is that you are better off selecting a reputable garage in person.
