TweeterGetter Will Get You 15,625 New Followers

It seems that Twitter is about to be over-run by a terrible pyramid scheme which allows people to get thousands of new followers.

Twitter Search is going mad this morning with TweeterGetter – it’s quite likely the whole of Twitter will grind to a halt later as a result.

You can see how it works by visiting http://tweetergetter.com/patrickaltoft or http://tweetergetter.com (don’t sign up unless you want to follow loads of strange people).

The concept is simple, when you retweet the message in the form below, you will automatically start following the 6 people in front of you in the system.

A message posted on your twitter will automatically be formated with your unique link. Meaning that when people follow through to this site, they will have to follow you in position 1 to use the system themselves.

Now when those people refer others via their link, their new followers will also follow you in position 2 and so on down 5 levels deep. By the time you reach the 5th position, you will have thousands, if not tens of thousands of new twitter followers… and it NEVER stops growing!

I’m new to twitter, I know, where have I been.

In short what benefits does this twitter have, any SEO uses/benefits?

Seems to be the absolute nadir of marketing if you ask me. Twitter as a popularity contest just so someone can spam as many likeminded tweeters with their tinyurls, or whatever, and maybe, just maybe turn an extra shilling.

Twitter is an EXTREMELY efficient communication app. Think of it as an Internet Blackberry ™. Certainly, you have the choice of deciding whom to follow…or not. Used effectively, you can make the experience more personal and “instant” for anyone interested in what’s going on in your space.

    Embrace it!

I think that the concept is great… it’s actually brilliant.

erm…david – brilliant concept!? like patrick says, its just a pyramid scheme, or a “forward this email to 5 other people or you’ll get run over tomorrow” email. old and crap concept.

Oh and I love how he’s put “this is NOT spam” on his page, as if saying it in big letters makes it true…

Signing up will NOT result in following loads of strange people. At the very most following up means you will follow 7 people. That’s the MOST you would follow, and it doesn’t take long to unfollow 7 people if they turn out to be crazy.

I’ve made 2 entries in my blog regarding TweeterGetter, but you and your readers may want to check out my one that answers the question: Is TweeterGetter the Devil? BEFORE we go kicking Gary in the shins and labeling him a schemer and scammer.

Warning. I think #tweetergetter is a very clever social-engineered attempt to harvest Twitter passwords. If any of your readers filled in the form and subscribed, I recommend they change their password immediately. Cheers — Mike (@MikeFitzAU)

I am newbie to twitter, what is twittergetter? Is it just a guide book?

This is a typical scam, to harvest information.

Not only do you need to add your username (which is necessary, and publicly available), but you also need to add your password. Of course, why do he need your email when he can just take over your Twitter account??

Stay away. If you have something to say, people will follow you, and RT you. If you have nothing to say, then just sh*t up.

    Hi,

Although this is a pyramid system (I won’t call it scam because the author is not asking for money), I didn’t ge tin because of having to enter the password.
Of course that I would like to have alot of followers since I have a website and a blog.

    Take care,

    José

I don’t like these tools, I think they go against the grain. The relationships made should be organic, not algorithmic. Rgds Vince

I believe the site is gone now. they doesn’t proof that could get 15000 follower in a month… and I believe the natural way is the best way to get good followers.
