Funny thing is that I know of a site who ranks well in Google becaue they’re using subdomains for their categories…but the site is banned in Yahoo! because they’re using subdomains for their categories. Go figure.

Yahoo aren’t doing this for any financial gain (unlike ebay’s subdomains but that’s another story).

They just issue them to their ‘partners’ so that the URL looks like it’s Yahoo. Do a search for stores.yahoo.net and you’ll see loads more.

I don’t think this is Yang (the new CEO) trying to turn the company around!

I don’t respect Yahoo anymore, they becoming just another … company which got complains from investors and shouldnt be such a grand after few years.

One of our sites located in HK has had a similar setup for years. The details are a bit fuzzy but I think yahoo contacted our company as we’re a leader in HK insurance and basically gave us subdomain on yahoo. Anyhow, nothing really new unless they’re actually selling them now.
