Watch our first Brunch with Branded3 session: a Google+ Hangout led by our SEO experts

Branded3’s Director of Search Patrick Altoft and Head of Search Tim Grice led the first of our monthly Google+ Hangouts on Friday, in which SEO enthusiasts took advantage of the hour to ask the expert pair anything they liked.

The Hangout was the first in our monthly Brunch with Branded3 sessions, and having been such a great success, we can’t wait for the next one!

Questions for the Hangout were either submitted beforehand to brunch@branded3.com, or were tweeted to us or left on our Google+ page during the session, and luckily Tim and Patrick managed to get through nearly all of them.

The Hangout featured a lot of questions surrounding reconsideration requests and the Disavow Tool, and is well worth watching if you’re also facing challenges around these topics.

You can check out the Hangout video below, or on our YouTube channel, and if you have a question for Patrick or Tim but didn’t get chance to ask it last Friday, feel free to post it in the comments section below or email brunch@branded3.com.

Plus, don’t forget to join us for our next Brunch with Branded3 Hangout on Thursday 24th January; keep an eye out on our blogs for details of which of our experts will be leading the Hangout, or if there’s a particular SEO, Digital or Social Media topic you’d really like to see discussed, feel free to email it over and we’ll see what we can do.

Thanks to all those who got involved on Friday, we hope you found it informative and will join us again!

We welcome Virgin Holidays on board as they appoint Branded3 for SEO

Branded3 welcomes Virgin Holidays on boardWe’re really excited and pleased to be able to announce that Virgin Holidays has chosen Branded3 as their new SEO partner.

The move by Virgin Holidays marks the end of their search for new digital agencies to partner with. Our SEO team will begin work immediately on the account, working alongside their newly-appointed lead creative agency, M&C Saatchi.

The Marketing Director for Virgin Holidays, Andrew Shelton, had this to say about the new appointment:

“We believe Branded3 is part of an incredibly strong roster of digital agencies that we work with that reflects our ambitions in this channel. It was important for us to be able to pull on the skills of experts in their field and we’re now looking forward to capitalising on their enthusiasm, experience and market-leading abilities. Branded3 is well respected within their individual digital stream and has a USP that fits our objectives in this space.”

Our very own Director of Search, Patrick Altoft, commented on the team’s excitement at the win:

“We’re really excited about working with Virgin Holidays and are looking forward to helping them achieve their full potential in SEO. Branded3 has a huge amount of experience in the travel sector and our online PR focused link strategy is a perfect fit for a well-known brand like Virgin Holidays.”

Does the Disavow Tool work and will it aid recovery from penalties?

Scepticism has been coursing through the veins of SEOs everywhere since the inception of Google’s spam-beating disavow tool.

There was, needless to say, controversy aplenty upon its launch, with the most prominent question unsurprisingly being: does it actually work?

In our experience, we’d insist that ‘yes’ is the answer. The disavow tool is a great way to aid recovery from a penalty. It is not, of course, the only road to recovery but, as long as it is used wisely along with a few other simple procedures, a penalty-ridden website will be back on the straight and narrow in no time. If you want to know how to use the tool read Patrick’s post here.

Patrick Altoft to speak at A4U Expo on Wednesday

Digital marketers across the world will be treated to a host of performance marketing insights and discussions at the 2012 A4U Expo in London this week.

Our Director of Search, Patrick Altoft, will be speaking at the event on Wednesday and will be joined by more than 1,000 marketing delegates from across the world to discuss all things performance marketing at the Hilton London Metropole.

As the UK’s largest conference of its kind, A4U Expo promises to provide a plethora of useful industry information. More than 40 sessions and panel debates are pencilled in to discuss the nature of the performance marketing industry and how it has evolved since the exhibition was last in London in 2011.

Agencies, publishers and advertisers alike are preparing for a day of education and networking in one of the largest events on the digital calendar, covering everything from search to social, mobile to video, e-commerce to e-mail.

Patrick’s session will start at 11am in Sandringham and is aptly named Turbo-Charging your SEO & Link Building Strategy. It will address SEO in a post-Panda world by taking attendees through a full site link audit of an affiliate site to show you first-hand exactly how we carry out such a process.

If you haven’t got a ticket yet and would like to go, they can be purchased here or on the day at the venue itself.

If you’re attending the event, feel free to get in touch to arrange a meeting on the day. We hope to see you there!

Patrick Altoft on the SEO panel at Leeds Digital Conference this Friday

Patrick will be joining a panel at Leeds Digital ConferenceThe rise of Leeds as a hotbed of digital talent will be celebrated on Friday with a day of insight, conversation and workshops at the Leeds Digital Conference.

Our Director of Search, Patrick Altoft will be joining a panel of SEO experts to discuss the effects of Google’s Penguin algorithm update at around 11.15am, and the schedule for the day also includes exciting talks on design, data, content and digital strategy.

Gathering great speakers and thought leaders together for events like this always makes for interesting, fruitful discussions, but the fact that this event is focussed on Leeds-based digital companies makes it all the more special for Branded3.

Our agency has been based in Leeds for the last five years and we have benefited hugely from being part of such a thriving city of digital media. There is a healthy culture of competition and knowledge-sharing between agencies in the city, and being no more than a couple of hours away from so many of the UK’s major cities is an advantageous position.

The Leeds Digital Conference promises to celebrate “innovation, creativity and online talent”. We are lucky to be in a city that boasts such an abundance of these qualities across various disciplines.

Tickets are just £30 and details of how to book are available here. Hope to see you there on Friday!
