One of the most effective things you can do to improve your website is
to regularly check the log files for your on site search engine to see
if there are common terms that users are struggling to find.

If you spot trends and phrases that are important to your visitors you
can highlight these on your main navigation and link to from other key
pages.

Analysis of other feedback such as emails is also a good way to see
what your visitors are interested in. Receiving a hundred emails
asking if you offer a particular product is great but if you listed
the product on your homepage you would sell 500 and not have to spend
time responding to your customers.

Looking at user feedback is also a great way of finding new product
ideas. If you have a ready made market for a product and can find a
supplier (or merchant with an affiliate program) selling the product
on your site won’t be too difficult.
