Stephan Spencer has an excellent interview with Matt Cutts today with some interesting snippets of information for SEO’s.

Below are some of the most important points.

If you are syndicating articles on third party sites make sure they link back to the original article on your site, rather than your homepage.

Google values links from social bookmarking sites the same as any other link.

Page urls should contain no more than 4 or 5 keywords, after that they look spammy to users & search engines

Matt doesn’t think people will buy links to their competitors because those links “would be more likely to help” than to harm them.

The reason behind the old 100 links per page guideline was because Google only indexed the first 101 kilobytes of a page, the new limit is half a megabyte.

A final interesting point was that Matt admitted that in the past nofollow links with a totally unique anchor text could be used to make the linked page rank for the anchor text phrase even though the link was never followed or counted. This loophole has now been closed.
